The Milk Bar January 3rd

it was kinda cold when we arrived at the milk bar. and just like last time, jacksonville didnt disappoint us by supplying a few freakyfreakies for us to laugh at. i vaguely remember being shocked at a black skateboarder (since ive never even heard of such a thing) and there was this old guy in a wheelchair across the street who looked like he was dead. at one point some kids walked over to him and said something and he got really pissed and started chasing them and swinging his arms at them. it was funny. and the little joke we had going was that he would still be out there when we got out of the concert. little did we know... anyway so we get in the place and once again have to stand around and wait for like an hour for the first band to hit the stage, but when they did, i was impressed. the band was called staind and they rocked ass. they were really good and i dont think the guitarist ever stopped moving his head up and down. then they were done and they started playing music while the next band set up. the music was tool and somehow people just started going insane. one little poser 12 year old actually even crowd surfed. and when they had to shut it off people were sooo mad that it was a little scary. i mean it was only a cd. anyway then they put on incubus and i was surprised to see how many people didnt know it. go check incubus out if you havent already. they are amazing. so then the next band takes the stage and these guys are amazing. their name was cold aand they kick ass. go buy their self-titled cd from flip cos its amazing. so i was like this is pretty cool so i got my nigga to lift me up and i crowd surfed for a little while until i fell on some guy who called me an asshole and pushed me. it was actually kind of funny. but anyway, this prompted scooter, cold's singer, to make the comment that there werent enough us flying through the air. hence began one of the craziest things ive ever been involved in in my life. all of a sudden there were as many kids in the air as there were on the floor. another cool thing was that they shot a video while they were there. in think it was for the song "give" and that video is out but i havent seen it yet. anyway when lb finally hits the stage people are going nuts and they start off with stuck. i was also pleased that they started counterfeit the demo way, with all that synthesiser stuff before starting it the cd way. over points of interest were them doing an impromptu version of wicked using a slayer riff as the main phrasing and they also covered a ministry song. this concert kicked much ass and you need to go see them if they come to your town. oh yeah! and that old guy was STILL there when we left. but a cop chased him away which was funny. we tried to get a picture of him but it didnt come out.

july 29th, central florida fairgrounds, ozzfest 98

so despite the fact that we missed half of incubus's show due to the fact that they were first and we were late due to a certain portly associate of mine, ozzfest was kicking ass. incubus put on a great show, snot played a new song, soulfly was tight as hell, ultraspank was cool, and coal chamber was fun to laugh at. so im like, cool lb is up next. so i get as close to the front as possible and then i hear like rocky music come on and lb takes the stage. wes (by far the coolest one in the band) comes out in this skeleton halloween outfit, puts on his guitar, and throws his hands out giving everyone the finger and the crowd gratefully replies by saluting him right back. but sam didnt see wes do this and just looks up to see like a thousand middle fingers in the air and i think he took some offense from it which was kinda funny. and there was this huge ass toilet on the stage that fred popped up out of. also later in the show incubus's drummer popped out and sat there for like 4 songs. so wes starts the first song, pollution, with this huge smile on his face and fred rapped the whole song from on top of the toilet. it was cool. then like half way through the set fred goes, " do any of you motherfuckers like korn?" and they start into blind. and theyre building it up and building it up, and then my friend yells up to the stage "youre not gonna do it you fuckers!" and lethal, fred and sam all started laughing and they cut off right when the song kicks in and like everyone in the audience who were getting ready to mosh are all "fuck you!" and give em the finger. so then fred goes, "hey repeat after me, limp bizkit sucks" and when everyone repeats it he goes "well fuck you then". it was pretty funny. then they did this really shitty attempt at cobering jump around by house of pain. i couldnt tell but i think wes was restringing a broken string at the time so there was no guitar and maybe thats why it sucked so much, but it was just horrible. it didnt sound anything like it. so then towards the end of the set, fred goes, "i gotta take a shit right now," and he gets up on the toilet and lethal makes this fart noise and a cardboard cut out of posh spice pops up out of the toilet. fred goes "how many of you like the spice girls?" and like everyone boos. then he goes "how many of you girls would like to beat the fuck out of the spice girls?" and you hear like this huge feminine roar. then he says "how many of you fellas would like a blowjob from the spice girls?" ive never heard so many men cry out in my life. except for that one time in al's mom's bedroom. but anyway, then he goes, "well i just want to flush this bitch cos the spice girls suck!" and there is this huge roar of approval. then right before they did stuck, fred goes "hey we got to love the little people right?" and out walk these two midgets and they rap the song with him. it was fuckin cool as hell. so they know how to work a crowd and that was fuckin cool as hell but a lot of the shit was the same. like last time i saw them, they did a cover of wicked using a slayer riff because an audience member requested it and i thought it was spontaneous but they did the same thing at ozzfest. and they played the exact same songs off their album. i really fuckin wanted to hear sour or stalemate, but just like last time, they didnt play them. but overall an lb show is one to definitely check out. so go show em love.
